Choosing the correct cooler / chiller

The diagrams below show the temperature that can be obtained in the aquarium with each of the four units available.

How to use these charts
If, for example, if you have a 250 litre aquarium and need to reduce the temperature to 20oC then, using first diagram (RA/CA200), trace a vertical line up from 20oC on the X axis and a horizontal line across from 250 litres on the Y axis. As the point at which the lines intersect falls outside the shaded area, the RA200 will not be suitable for your aquarium. Do the same with second diagram (RA/CA240) and you will see that the point at which the two lines intersect does fall within the shaded area and therefore a RA240 cooler would be the right unit for your aquarium.

Please note:
  1. If you have an insulated tank or an aquarium made of double walled glass, you will need to multiply the required capacity by 0.5.
  2. The above charts are based on recirculatory systems. For flow through systems, please consult your dealer.
  3. The charts are based on a maximum ambient temperature of 30oC around the cooler. If your ambient temperature is likely to be higher than this, please seek your dealer’s advice.

Many items of aquarium equipment actively heat the system’s water. If your tank uses a large number of features such as pumps, and/or extensive fluorescent or metal halide (HQI) lighting, it is strongly recommended that you use the next model up from that shown in the above charts.

Never try to operate the cooler on a larger aquarium or attempt to reach a lower temperature than specified. If units are used inappropriately in this way, they will not function properly and their warranty will be invalidated.
